Muay Thai - Karate - Boxing
My vision is to create the ultimate standup training environment for MMA fighters.

What do you need to start? Just hand wraps gloves and workout clothes. The boxing classes are done with shoes on and the Muay Thai is barefoot.
Come 10 minutes early to class if possible having your hands wrapped. Start doing your warm up and stretching exercises. Classes are like mini seminars with a different focus each class. Categories of training are for example; Stretching Flexibility and Warm Ups, Punching & Kicking basic form, Heavy bag drills, how to hold Thai Pads and focus mitts, Boxing Defense drills, Muay Thai Defend and Counter Drills, Shadow Boxing and Footwork, Power Shield Drills, Body toning Calisthenics, Cardio Strength and Conditioning for Fighters and more...

Basic training
To develop proper Muay Thai techniques it is necessary that one must be prepared for rigorous conditioning of the body. Conditioning with strict attention to proper technique is the key.  Consistent training is necessary to toughen muscles bones and connective tissue as well as for developing endurance and efficient technique. This is done with a variety of different exercises. The basics start with: Muay Thai flexibility, balance and coordination exercises. Then drilling proper Muay Thai techniques with shadow boxing, and heavy bag work. Advanced Muay Thai training includes:  Thai pad mitt work, focus mitts, power shield, neck wrestling,
attack and counter attack sparring drills (A.R.I.T.) jump rope, roadwork,  and finally free sparring.  See videos below.
Attack Response Impact Training is a phrase I coined used to describe the core type of training that I do for fighters based upon the Mejiro Gym "Dutch style" Muay Thai system. It is designed  to develop your ability to attack defend and counter attack as powerfully and effectively as possible. I first began doing "Full Contact Karate" with Benny "The Jet" Urquidez who was by far the greatest full contact karate fighter of his era in the late 70's through 80's. Here are some highlights.

Benny taught me a realistic approach to incorporating boxing and karate techniques together. His trademark was ring savvy and cleverness having the ability to defeat opponents (often much larger than he) with a variety of techniques. What I learned most from Benny was how to be an intelligent fighter. I later learned the "Dutch style" method of Muay Thai training from a master trainer from the Netherlands. The Dutch fighters are known for their powerhouse punches and low kicks often knocking out their opponents with a single kick to the leg. Shuki Ron my coach, trained side by side with kickboxing legends Rob Kaman and Ramon Dekkers who was the first foreigner to win the "fighter of the year" award in Thailand. Shuki has now passed this knowledge on to me here in the US where it is rather rare. I also have many years of professional boxing training experience that I incorporate into the training. The training involves drilling specific precision Muay Thai and Boxing techniques together with a training partner as realistically as possible progressively working up to "full contact" while minimizing the risk of injury. Top ranked boxers understand the necessity of having other top boxers for spar full contact with to sharpen their skills to increasing levels. I try to simulate this approach into our Muay Thai training.  As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
For Muay Thai I do this with the use of special protective gear that I have designed that prevents bone on bone contact minimizing the risk of injury. I compiled this unique series of training drills over the years and I am always seeking to improve and perfect my training methods. I also incorporate some training techniques from Karate, and traditional Muay Thai. To connect with our training group on Facebook and see the latest YouTube videos click the links below.
